Kelvin and Jo’s wedding took place over two days – Thursday was a very intimate family affair, with a ceremony at Cambridge Registry Office for close family, and then on Saturday, a reception party at the Secret Garden Marquee at Burwash Manor. Both days were lovely, and Kelvin and Jo were both a picture of happiness on both days.
From a photography point of view, both days had their challenges, as do all weddings, but I got to try out my new radio triggers and my new softbox, which I bought to use with flash units. I even got excited about buying sandbags to weigh down my light stands! Well my obsess… I mean, enthusiasm – translated into two day’s worth of photos that I’m extremely proud of and that make me smile every time I see them.
Where Thursday was a wonderful, poignant and heartwarming gathering of close family, Saturday was a fun-packed party. There was a ferris wheel stuffed with sweets, courtesy of ##, a bouncy activity centre for the kids, supplied by ##, an ice cream vendor ##, and of course food, drink and plenty of reasons to be merry!
Add to this fun group shots – Jo and Kelvin’s young son was asked “Where’s Mike?” to get him to look at the camera, which prompted the whole group to start shouting, “Mike!” in unison; a chant that replaced “Say cheese” for the day.
Later on, I set up my awesome photobooth, complete with plenty of props, a chalkboard to write messages on and it’s incredible sound activation “Screambooth” setting; a feature I expertly demonstrated, complete with a few props – and top it all off with the fantastic setting of the Secret Garden Marquee and some amazing weather and an incredible and fun day was had by all!
